If you live every day as if it was your last, what would you be doing? Would you take in the beauty this life has to offer? Would you make sure you lived your last day as an exquisite adventure? Would you make sure you made sure your family and friends knew you loved them?
Of course, if it’s your last day there are other ways you could spend it. Would you live a last day experiencing complete hedonism? Would you live irresponsibly, possibly endangering others planning to live a bit longer than one day? Would you spend your life savings recklessly?
When planning to live one hundred years, how do you find yourself living your life? Do you make sure you budget your income to avoid falling in debt? Do you make sure to foster long-term relationships so your friends will be there ten years from now?
When planning to live one hundred years, there are other approaches you might take, as well. Do you find yourself putting off a fun adventure because you’re too busy with work right now? Do you hasten to pawn your children off to your spouse or to a baby-sitter often because the workday is too stressful and you just can’t deal with it, thinking your children will always be there?
There’s a good chance you’ll be around for quite a while longer. Keep that in mind before you blow all your income on frivolous things. Keep that in mind while you decide how to treat your friends.
Unfortunately, life is unpredictable, and you might find yourself with a life that’s cut short. Did you give your gifts today? Did you appreciate the beauty that’s around you right now?
Live each day as though it’s your last, while at the same time planning to live a hundred years.
