Within our culture, we seem to have built up cause and effect relationship between “getting what we want” and “feeling good”. It’s true that you can feel good after getting what you want, but it’s not necessarily true. Have you ever gotten what you want only to feel further wanting a few days or even hours later?
Think about any time when you’ve felt good for reason other than getting what you wanted.
When you get to the point where you feel good even though you didn’t get what you want, then you’re in great shape.
In fact, feeling good first is the best way to get what you want. You’re more likely to behave in positive ways that get things moving the way you want.
