I Am

What does it mean to say "I Am"?

Someone recently pointed out to me that asserting yourself (that is, saying "I am") is only a linguistic construct-- in which you specify a boundary between yourself and everything else. But does the boundary really happen in nature, or is it truly that everything is separate in name only?
