How others feel about a relationship IS important to be sure, but not as important as you interpret the relationship. You are the ultimate arbiter. How you feel about a relationship with another person will ultimately inform and guide your relationship – and that’s the only part of the relationship that’s in your control.
Of course, the same is true from their point of view as well.
