Have you ever thought about what it might have been like before creatures had eyes? At one point in history, earthly creatures did not perceive light. Light became important only when specific cells figured out how to turn light and carbon dioxide into glucose.
We owe our human eyes to our ancestors who invented them long ago and who built them up over time.
At one point in history, earthly creatures could have cared less about subtle differences in air pressure. We owe our human ears to our ancestors who figured out how to turn air pressure differences into meaningful sounds long ago.
There was a time in recent history when earthly creatures didn’t care one iota about the presence of radio waves. They had no means of detecting radio waves and turning them into something useful. But now radio, television, and wireless Internet cafes pervade our culture. Not only have we invented extensions of ourselves to receive radio waves, but we have invented extensions that produce radio waves.
What else is there that we don’t know about because we simply don’t have the capacity to detect and process yet?
